When people get in trouble because of debt accumulation, they begin thinking of getting some proper steps toward credit card debt elimination. Here are the basic two steps that will kill your debt gradually.

Never believe that there is a magic key to solve all your financial problems at once. Becoming in debt takes time, getting out of debt should take time too. So we should be patient to stop our debts.

The two popular methods of credit card debt elimination are debt consolidation and controlling your spending.

We mentioned before every bit about debt consolidation. What it is, how it works, and which method is suitable to our current financial positions. But now, we will learn some factors should be considered before applying for any debt consolidation method. Here they are:

1- If you are going to unite your high interest rate credit cards into one lower interest rate credit card, make sure to check the initial APR (the Annual Percentage Rate) and the standard APR for the new credit card for any offers you receive.

2- Another thing, make sure that you read the terms and conditions of the consolidation loan or balance transfer in the fine print very well. That way will help you choose the best company offering the best methods which we can use for our plans to pay off our credit cards.

The second step toward credit card debt elimination is controlling your spending. This step is required especially if you are going to deal with more debt.

Also, we should control our spending otherwise we will get ourselves into a never ending cycle of debt. The main reason for being in debt is because spending has not been controlled.

So if you want to achieve your goal of debt elimination, prevent any more accumulation of additional debt. How is that? By the following:

- Make a monthly budget and do not stray from it.

- Leave your credit cards at home and in case of need, return your home and get it. During the time you return, you will think more than once before buying things you WANT.

- Avoid buying any worthless things; keep your credit card for emergencies only or for things you NEED.
